Learn More From Globe Metal – save as a Preferred Source

Globe Metal has been in the specialty metals business for over 40 years. For most of that time, the company was known primarily as a metal recycler — and while recycling remains part of what we do, it has never been the complete picture.

This post explains what Globe Metal does, how we are positioned in the specialty metals supply chain, and what that means practically for industrial buyers who are looking for a reliable source of raw material.

It is a straightforward description of who we are and what we offer. If you are evaluating suppliers, this is the starting point.

Three Product Categories, One Supply Partner

Globe Metal’s product offer is organized into three categories, each serving a distinct set of industrial manufacturing needs.

Elements covers the nine specialty and refractory metals at the core of our business: molybdenum, niobium, tantalum, tungsten, titanium, hafnium, rhenium, vanadium, and zirconium. Each is available in specific commercial forms — the forms that industrial manufacturers actually need, not a catalogue of everything that theoretically exists. We carry what we know how to source reliably and supply with proper documentation.

Alloy Revert covers nickel-based and cobalt-based superalloy materials that have been recovered from manufacturing operations and processed back to a production-ready state. These materials — INCONEL, Rene, Mar-M, CMSX, PWA grades in nickel-based alloys; HS, Tribaloy, and MP grades in cobalt-based alloys — are not scrap. They are raw materials with the same chemistry as virgin alloy, supplied with the documentation that aerospace and industrial manufacturers require.

Certified Ingots covers consolidated, high-purity ingot material across a range of specifications — nickel-based alloys, cobalt-based alloys, tungsten alloys, single-crystal alloys, and high-purity elements. Certified ingots are the feedstock for manufacturers who need the highest standard of material documentation and traceability.

What Globe Metal Does and Does Not Do

Globe Metal sources, processes, and supplies specialty metals. We are not a general scrap dealer, a metal broker, or a distributor who passes through material without adding process knowledge or documentation value.

Our recycling capability is real and it is part of our business — but it is a means of bringing material into the supply chain in a way that creates value for both the generators of scrap and the buyers of processed material. The recycling activity supports our supply capability. It does not define our identity as a business.

We do not manufacture finished components. We supply raw material — in the forms that your process requires, with the documentation your quality system demands, from a supplier who has been in this market long enough to know it properly.

The Industries Globe Metal Serves

Our customers operate in industries where material quality and supply chain reliability are not negotiable. The specialty metals we supply are used in applications where a supply failure or a material quality problem has downstream consequences that extend well beyond the cost of the metal itself.

Aerospace manufacturing is the most demanding segment of our customer base. Jet engine components, structural airframe parts, and thermal protection systems all depend on specialty metals with tight specifications and full traceability. Aerospace buyers require suppliers who understand what that documentation needs to look like and who deliver it consistently.

Oil and gas applications include drilling equipment, downhole tooling, and processing components that operate in corrosive, high-pressure, high-temperature environments. The specialty metals in these applications — tungsten, molybdenum, nickel alloys — need to perform reliably in conditions that would compromise lower-grade materials.

Medical device manufacturing demands biocompatibility, purity, and documentation that supports regulatory compliance. Titanium, tantalum, and niobium are materials that appear regularly in implant and device applications.

Additive manufacturing is a growing segment. As more industrial manufacturers scale 3D printing of metal components, the quality requirements for feedstock material become more important. The raw material going into the process determines the properties of the part coming out.

Automotive, mining, and defence round out our industry reach — each with its own material requirements and documentation expectations.

Why Experience in This Market Matters

Specialty metals are not a commodity business. The materials are technically complex, the supply chains are often concentrated and geopolitically sensitive, and the documentation requirements in regulated industries are specific and non-negotiable.

Working with a supplier who has been in this market for decades means working with a team that has seen supply cycles, managed disruptions, and built relationships with producers and processors that take years to develop. It means working with people who know what to do when something unexpected happens — because unexpected things happen in specialty metals supply chains, and the difference between a manageable situation and a production-stopping one is often whether your supplier has the relationships and knowledge to solve it.

Globe Metal brings that experience to every customer relationship. We are not the right supplier for every buyer — but for manufacturers who need reliable supply, proper documentation, and a team that knows the materials, we are worth a conversation.
